Death Magnetic (album)

Suicide and Redeption is the 9th track on the studio album Death Magnetic. The lyrics were written by James Hetfield and the music was composed by all band members: James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo.

"Suicide and Redemption" is the first instrumental track since 1988's "To Live Is To Die" from the album ...And Justice For All. Clocking in at 9:59, this is the longest song on the album, and one of the longest songs by Metallica to date. There are only two songs longer: the uncut version of Load's "The Outlaw Torn" (10:48), which was only released as a b-side, and the Mercyful Fate medley on Garage Inc. (11:11). There are fans that do not count these songs and consider this the longest song.
