The Ride the Lightning Tour was the third concert tour by the American thrash metal band Metallica. The tour was in support of Metallica's second album Ride the Lightning. Metallica performed for the first time at Monsters of Rock in front of 70,000 people. The Portland show at the end of the first North American leg marked one of few times they performed an entire show with guitars tuned to Eb standard prior to Escape from the Studio '95.
