In "Bleeding Me", the lyrical theme, as recounted by Jason Newsted, is said to be about mental torture. The phrase "Caught under wheels, roll" is meant to have an implication that the suffering never ceases. The other theme is James Hetfield's problem with alcohol, how he dealt with it. James said in the 2001 Playboy interview that he'd shed a tear, and the other guys wouldn't care.
